After finishing Dave Grohl’s memoir, The Storyteller, I sat down and made this portrait. Dave is currently the frontman for the Foo Fighters, but has been a man about the music world throughout his career, getting his first big break as Nirvana’s drummer. What I find most inspiring about him is the way he talks about music, about being a rock star, about being a father. Somehow, the fact that he himself is famous hasn’t made him express any less awe for his life and the people he gets to meet along the way.
This quote from the book, in particular, inspired the colors in the piece:
“I spent my childhood climbing trees, chewing tobacco. A faded Kodachrome portrait come to life, this was true 70’s Americana shit. Banana seat bikes and bebe guns.”
